Youths Oppress My People - Isaiah 3:12

Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path. Isaiah 3:12

I saw this mentioned in an article a few days ago and for some reason it stuck in my mind. I can't remember which article or where it was and couldn't find it online. It may have been in a magazine.

The article had said that this was a prophecy and that it fit our time.

I looked it up and found some commentaries on it. There are different translations for some of the words. The word translated as "youths" in the version I used could also mean children or just immature people. The word translated as "women" could also be translated as "creditor".

Either way it does seem to fit what is happening in the modern world. At least in the United States. Many members of Congress seem a bit "immature" to me.

And then we have lots of families where the children to seem to be in charge. The kids do pretty much whatever they want and the adults just seem to go along.

The commentaries I read are : Collections, Bible Tools, MyJewishLearning, and another Bible Tools page on Amos 4:1 that has some explanation on the "women" bit.

They make for some interesting reading. What do you think about it?

To The Man Who Pleases God - Wisdom

To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes 2:26

I like this. I like the idea that all those super rich folks are simply doing Gods work by gathering all that wealth for other people.

And God giving such good gifts as wisdom and happiness to those who please him.

Seems like pleasing God is definitely the way to go. At least if you value wisdom.
